Meet The Team

Alaine Garnett, Counsellor

I’m Alaine Garnett, a counsellor at Restoring Hope Therapies. I am dedicated to helping a variety of different communities thrive by using my extensive experience and putting it into action to help restore families and individuals relationships.

For the past 16 years I have worked in schools across the South East mentoring those with challenging behaviours to ensure that all students receive the best opportunity for education by helping them return to mainstream schools and attending lessons with fellow students.

I have also trained as a person centred counsellor, primarily working with primary school children who have been susceptible to domestic violence and abuse, drug and alcohol abuse and children who have parents with mental health conditions. This training allowed me to help children feel safe in an environment where they could express their feelings towards parents, carers and the system.

More recently, I have worked in a hospice helping those with anticipatory grief, terminally ill patients and those who are bereaved. Encouraging them to speak in a judgement free environment and express their thoughts and concerns about these topics.

I now work predominantly with young people and adults, i’m committed to helping those who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) as well as other comorbid conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), Attachment and anxiety conditions and those with historic abuse, self harm and suicidal ideations. I feel passionately about helping those in our community understand themselves fully with the aim for them to become confident, resilient and to find their inner peace.
